About Me
I'm Rebecca and I am a UX/UI Designer based in Glasgow. My pronouns are she/her.
Originally from the Outer Hebrides, I am a UX/UI designer with a background in fashion design and retail management. I have over 6 years experience working with a variety of high end textile products, from kids bags to wedding dresses. I recently completed the UI Design course with CareerFoundry in January 2023.
What I value most are brands that push the boat out, delivering quality products with a positive social impact. I value research, which is essential to delivering a smooth enjoyable user experience that is functional and beautiful. Pretty and trendy designs are great, but it can be rendered useless if the research is missing, and it doesn’t work.

When I Am Not Designing
- Film PhotographyI use a 1970s Cosina for 35mm film photography. I love developing my own work in the darkroom as it requires a very methodical approach. I run an instagram page called @StreetPawDography.
- Illustration and DesignI love working in closed loop and sustainable ways. I create zero waste patterns and garments. I am always trying to create new looks to add to my wardrobe.
- Musical TheatreA huge fan of musical theatre, I love to help out amateur dramatic groups with their costume. As well as occasionally perform myself and dance it out on stage as part of the ensemble.
Skills and Tools Overview
- Frontend Development For DesignersAnimation (HTML, CSS, and Adobe Illustrator)I recently completed Frontend Development for Designers as part of my UI Design course with CareerFoundry. I can create neat animations to enhance the user experience such as the adapted SVG to the left. Isolating all the individual layers to ensure easy control and animations of shapes.
- WireframingSketching and DigitisingI create my wireframes both by hand and digitally, depending on the scope or need of the project. I believe wireframes are essential for communicating complex ideas and can establish a structure and potential flow for possible design solutions. Sketching allows for quick ideations, finding optimum solutions for user focused projects. Digitising allows for minor changes to be adapted quickly when better alternatives are identified. I love using Figma for my mid and high fidelity screens, but balsamiq is also a fast alternative.
- User ExperienceResearch, Interviews, Personas and FlowsBeautiful design can draw a user in, but unless it really works, there won’t be any retention. Research is an essential part of my process, whether it’s comparing SWAT analysis of my current market competitors or conducting user interviews to identify current paint points and market gaps. I love this part of the process as it allows for designs with users at the centre, with all needs considered and catered for, ensuring smooth navigation and enjoyable experiences.
